P. E. Vision

Physical education plays a great part in everyday life in Evendons primary school. Children are taught the fundamental movement skills of agility, balance and coordination with a focus on individual challenge, sportsmanship and resilience throughout.

As children move through the school the challenge becomes greater, allowing children to develop their movement skills, leading to confident and skilful sports players.

Throughout the school community we aim to develop in children a love for sport, actively encouraging children to join active sports clubs and participate in healthy competition. The main focus is for children to develop a desire to further themselves, competing against previous scores and constantly pushing themselves.

Children in Reception receive one hour a week of discrete Physical education teaching while children in Key Stage one and two receive two hours. As well as these lessons all children participate in a 20 minute music and movement session every day and a 20 minute massage session a week.

We believe at Evendons in enhancing our curriculum as much as possible with movement as research shows how beneficial music and movement sessions can be in developing the whole child, positively impacting upon language, mathematical thinking and brain development skills.

We have a strong ethos across the school to celebrate all of children’s achievements and desire to work harder and develop skills across all areas of physical development.
