Local Advisory Board & Members

Evendons Primary School is part of Bellevue Place Education Trust which is overseen by a Board of Trustees, known as the BPET Board. The trustees are highly experienced professionals, including education professionals, working alongside trustees appointed following a skills-based assessment. Each school that is part of the Trust has a Local Advisory Board which is comprised of parents, members of the community and the Headteacher.

The Local Advisory Board (LAB) meets four times a year and has a strong focus on three strategic functions:

  • Setting the vision, ethos and strategic direction for the school, within the overall vision of the Trust.
  • Holding the Headteacher and senior leadership team to account for the educational performance of the school, its pupils and the performance management of staff; and
  • Ensuring investment in educational improvement is value for money and having an impact.

The Headteacher has day-to-day responsibility for the efficient management of the school and members of the LAB and staff work together. We aim to Nurture each and every child, find unique learning experiences to Inspire and equip our children to Flourish in school and beyond. Parents have an opportunity to join the LAB as parent advisers when vacancies arise.

Visit the BPET website for information on BPET’s governance structure and how this oversees the strategic governance of Evendons Primary School.

Meet the Local Advisory Board

Leesha Whawell

Local Advisory Board Chair (Parent Advisor)

Leesha is a parent of 2 children at the school, in Year 4 and Year 6. The boys are lively and inquisitive and they have taken on the school’s passion for STEM and commitment to kindness with equal enthusiasm.

Leesha joined the school’s governing body in May 2019 and was appointed Vice-Chair as the school transitioned from being Single Academy Trust to a Multi-Academy Trust. She has now taken on the role as Chair of the Local Advisory Board and is looking forward to guiding the school forward in this next chapter with BPET.

Leesha is a criminal barrister, defending and prosecuting cases through-out the South-East of England.   When not at work she enjoys being with her family, going to the theatre and making fondant icing cake toppers.

Tony Eames

Local Advisory Board Member (Parent Advisor)

Tony is a father of three; Alicia, Layla and Rosa all of which attend Evendons. Tony has been involved with Evendons since its inception and served as the Chair of Governors for first two years ensuring the governing structure and strategic plan was in place.

Tony has worked within the IT industry for over eighteen years working across multiple blue organisations including Samsung and currently HP Inc. His experience covers a wide variety of areas including marketing, business development, operations, innovation and sales management. Through Tony’s experience and industry contacts he wrote the ICT vision which put Evendons on the cutting edge of Google’s G-Suite for Education platform and ultimately led to every child having access to a Chromebook device – something quite unique in primary schools.

Tony lives with a pacemaker to combat a sudden death condition and is acutely aware of the importance of a strong SEN provision due to his early days at school. Tony’s passion is based on progress to ensure you constantly better yourself. He completed a Million Metre indoor rowing challenge with a marathon distance finale in the school taking just under four hours.
