The Governing Body of Evendons Primary School is currently determining proposed admission arrangements for September 2019.

The School Admissions Code requires us to publicly consult on these arrangements for a minimum of six weeks, and we are inviting comments on the proposed Admissions Policy.

The period of formal consultation opens on 1 November 2017 and ends on 13 December 2017. After this period the Governing Body will consider any consultation responses and determine their final Admission Arrangements which will then be published on our website by 1st March 2018. A copy of the draft Admissions Policy for Evendons Primary School is available on the school website or can be obtained from Mrs. L. Shambrook, Admissions co-ordinator, at the school.

What change are we consulting about?

The School proposes to include a new over-subscription criterion in our current policy – that would give priority to children of staff in either or both of the following circumstances:

  • where the member of staff has been employed at the school for two or more years at the time at which the application for admission to the school is made, and/or
  • the member of staff is recruited to fill a vacant post for which there is a demonstrable skill shortage
No other changes to the criteria have been proposed. Our proposed policy is in line with the Wokingham Borough Council Admissions policy for maintained schools in 2018/19.

Other matters

We have made other minor changes to clarify a number of points relating to the administration of waiting lists and verification information.

Since these changes do not affect the substance of our policy, we are not consulting about them.

The Governing Body would welcome responses to the proposed policy from local parents, local community members, local schools, relevant bodies and Admission Authorities.
