Evendons Primary School has several unique factors which makes it different to other primary schools in the area.
- STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focus. Evendons Primary School will follow the National Curriculum and enhance it by having a particular focus on STEM. Being located in the heart of the Thames Valley close to numerous technology companies and organisations, we want to capitalise on the links that we create with them to ensure that we use the most up-to-date and relevant topics and approaches to equip our children for their lives beyond Evendons.
- Smaller class sizes. Our class sizes have a maximum of 25 pupils which create more one-one teaching opportunities to focus on individual as well as group learning.
- Before and after-school clubs. At Evendons we understand the challenges that working parents face when it comes to childcare. We have both before-school and after-school clubs. The breakfast club starts at 07.45 and the after-school club closes at 18.15 allowing parents an extra 15 minutes with their journeys to and from work. The clubs are a place where children can play, read, relax and eat if they wish.
- Free school. Evendons Primary School is Wokingham’s first ever Free primary school. This means that it is free (non-fee paying) and open to all, and free from Council control. The school is still funded by the Department for Education in exactly the same way as other schools, but is not managed by Wokingham Borough Council. It is managed by the Governing Body and Evendons Primary School Trust.
