Fran Hurdle

Fran began her teaching career in September 2007. In 2012, Fran achieved her MA in Education. Her final dissertation focussed on transition between Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1. Also in 2012, Fran was promoted to Science and ICT Leader. Fran is experienced in teaching phonics, and considers this to be one of her areas of expertise. Fran enjoyed maths at school, and says that her maths teacher inspired her to continue with the subject to A level. Conscious that girls are often not encouraged with maths as a subject, Fran’s first Masters dissertation was about girls’ play preferences and their maths learning. She enjoys teaching maths today and engaging children who might not initially take to the subject. Outside of the classroom, Fran enjoys Zumba and socialises with friends. She enjoys spending time walking in Devon.

As well as an academic background in Geography and Modern History, Michelle has experience of teaching PE to young children. Michelle is very active, and loves to spend time in the natural environment, walking, climbing and cycling. She has family living all over the country so in her spare time enjoys visiting relatives and exploring some of the most beautiful areas of the country.
