Emily Beckett

Reception and Year 1 Phase Leader – Dyson Class
Emily’s main area of expertise is with Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), having always taught a mixture of Nursery or Reception children.  Emily has also done a lot of work on developing outdoor learning which is where her main passion in education lies.  She has travelled to Norway to see how kindergartens over there use the outdoors to enhance learning. Emily strongly believes in promoting tolerance, respect and trust so that the children develop into caring, responsible young people. Outside of school Emily is interested in the natural world, always having had a love of animals, as well as sailing and jewellery-making. She is also a bit of a baking enthusiast and loves to experiment with different cake concoctions!

Megan joined us in September 2017.

Megan 1Megan Douglas

 Y1 Teacher – Goodall Class

I  joined Evendons in September 2015 after spending four years completing my teaching degree at Plymouth University. During my degree I specialised in ICT and computing, with a keen interest in teaching using film, coding and blogging. I have been lucky enough to teach in a range of different schools in the South West as well as teaching on an international placement in Finland. I love to expand my classroom from just four walls to appreciate a wider learning environment, particularly by getting outdoors! In my spare time I like to support my local football team, go to the theatre, practise a little yoga and travel and explore the world as much as I can.

Sarah Parry

Y1 Teacher – Peake Class

During Evendons’ inaugural year, Sarah spent five weeks working closely with all year groups looking deeply at how children understand every day mathematics.  She was so inspired by her experience that she was keen to come back and join the team.  As part of her continued research Sarah is exploring the language adults and children use on a daily basis – much of it mathematical – and its impact on children and their learning. Passionate about nurturing the whole child through many mediums as well as creating an environment in which mistakes are part of everyday learning, Sarah is eager to ensure that the children continue their journey through Evendons highly engaged.

Sarah is mum to a son aged 10 and a daughter aged 12 (who is in another STEM school – Bohunt Secondary School).  In her spare time Sarah enjoys all aspects of art, craft and sewing as well as baking, bike-rides and taking her children on trips away.

Caroline Hamblin

 Y1 Teacher – Peake Class

Since qualifying as a teacher, Caroline has gained many years experience teaching in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 at a school in Reading and is now very pleased to have joined the team at Evendons Primary School. She is passionate about creating an environment and ethos where children can flourish and enjoy school, ensuring that they reach their full potential. Children’s happiness is very important to her and she is eager to develop skills such as independence, empathy and confidence in the children. During her degree, Caroline specialised in developing children’s reading and this is something that she continues to research and embed in her own practise.

Caroline is a mum to a daughter, Molly, who is 3 and just starting pre-school. Outside of school, she loves having family days out, exploring new places and walking and cycling. Caroline loves baking with her daughter and they enjoy painting and craft together.
